Golden Lake - Phosphorus: TMDL project

Golden Lake was first listed in 2002 on the MPCA’s 303(d) Impaired Waters list as not meeting standards for aquatic recreation due to excess nutrients. Golden Lake is located in the city of Circle Pines, and its watershed extends to Blaine, Circle Pines, Lexington, and Lino Lakes. Golden Lake flows into Rice Creek just below the Rice Creek Chain of Lakes.

Golden Lake is 57.2 acres in size and has a maximum depth of 24 feet and a mean depth of 8 feet. The lakeshore area is well developed. The lake is used recreationally for fishing and non-motorized boating.

Map and location

The Golden Lake sub-watershed is located in the west-central portion of the Rice Creek Watershed District (RCWD) in southern Anoka County and is in the Mississippi River - Twin Cities watershed in the Upper Mississippi basin.
