  • organizations
  • non-profits
  • Tribal nations
  • local governments

What is the assessment process?

RETAP conducts a comprehensive evaluation of your building, focusing on HVAC, lighting, water usage, waste generation, and structure. Your RETAP team will:

  1. analyze utility bills, reviewing 12 months of complete utility bill data to identify baseline usage, trends, and cost saving opportunities
  2. conduct an on-site visit, with a comprehensive walk-through of the facility
  3. deliver a detailed report with actionable recommendations
  4. meet to follow up on the report, review recommendations, and answer questions

What do you need to do?

After submitting an online assessment request, you will receive an email from the RETAP Assessment Coordinator confirming your eligibility to receive a RETAP assessment. Following the approval of your assessment request, clients must:

  1. sign a client waiver which outlines the expectations for the client and RETAP
  2. complete an electronic pre-assessment questionnaire regarding the building structure(s), HVAC system(s), lighting, utility billing, hours of operations, etc.
  3. provide a minimum of 12-months of complete utility bills; exceptions may be permitted depending on the client’s ability to access historical utility bills
  4. ensure knowledgeable staff are present during the on-site assessment
  5. attend a post-assessment report review meeting (virtual or in-person), typically scheduled 15-30 days following the delivery of the report
  6. participate in two distinct post-assessment surveys:
    1. client feedback survey, 30 days after delivery of the final report
    2. recommendations implemented survey, one year after delivery of the final report

What kind of recommendations can I expect?

Recommendations range from simple operational changes to complex equipment retrofits. You are under no obligation to implement the recommendations; implementation is completely voluntary. However, to support RETAP in measuring the success of the program, you will be asked to share follow-up data on implemented recommendations.
