As part of efforts to reduce nitrate pollution in Minnesota’s water, the MPCA has proposed changes to two permits that regulate the state’s animal feedlots. Both the NPDES and SDS general feedlot permits will be expiring soon. New drafts of NPDES and SDS general permits have been developed and are concurrently available for public comment through Sept. 3, 2024.
MPCA staff will explain proposed changes to NPDES and SDS general permits for feedlots. Learn about reasons behind the changes and how they could affect feedlot operations and reduce nitrate pollution. Staff will also explain how the public can submit comments to be a part of the process.
