Minneapolis: General Mills/Henkel Corp. site

This vapor intrusion area originated with the General Mills/Henkel Corp. Superfund Site at 2010 East Hennepin. The pollutant of concern is trichloroethylene (TCE), a common industrial solvent and degreaser.  TCE disposal at the site created an area of groundwater contamination (known as a “plume”) that extends about ½ mile southwest. This groundwater has led to vapors traveling upward through the soil, where it can enter houses and buildings.
