A mobile home park in Monticello has been fined $13,957 for a pair of violations according to the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA). MPCA investigators determined that The Meadows Mobile Home Park discharged less than 50 gallons of untreated sewage to the ground on April 26 and June 4, 2025. Investigators gave the mobile home park 30 days to correct the problem, but the park took 134 days to complete the corrective actions.
The park has completed the following late corrective actions:
- submit a collection system/sewer maintenance plan that documents maintenance activities designed to avoid future spills
- complete routine collection system/sewer cleaning
The MPCA remains committed to protecting human health and the environment by enforcing rules and regulations and limiting pollution and discharges from facilities. When facilities do not fully comply with regulatory requirements, the resulting pollution can be harmful to people and the environment.
When calculating penalties, the MPCA considers how seriously the violations affected or could have affected the environment, and whether they were first-time or repeat violations. The agency also attempts to recover the economic benefit the company gained by failing to comply with environmental laws in a timely manner.
