The City of Coon Rapids  used MPCA grant funding to install two dual-port Level 2 charging stations for electric vehicles (EVs).

Coon Rapids installed the new charging stations outside public buildings where community members can easily access them. “We placed one in the city hall parking lot and another outside of the Coon Rapids Ice Center,” explained Dzevad Mahmutovic, facilities operations manager for the city. “We’re proud that we can now provide a convenient charging option for EV drivers in our community.”

Minnesota has a growing EV market, and EV registrations in our state nearly doubled between 2018 and 2019. Installing charging stations in public places or workplace locations can help attract customers and employees.

Level 2 charging stations are ideally placed in locations where EV drivers will be parked for at least 30 minutes. Retail, restaurants, workplaces, public libraries, and schools or college campuses are all great choices.
