What is GreenCorps?
Minnesota GreenCorps is an environmentally focused AmeriCorps program coordinated by the MPCA. AmeriCorps members are placed with eligible host sites around the state to spend a year of service addressing critical environmental issues, while gaining experience and learning valuable job skills.
The MPCA plans to place up to 48 full-time members with various host sites across the state. These members will serve approximately 40 hours a week for 11 months (Sept. 2021 through Aug. 2022).
What do host sites gain?
Since 2009, Minnesota GreenCorps members have served with more than 200 host sites. Many have commented how the program helps increase their ability to roll out new initiatives and accelerate implementation of new ideas in their communities.
- "Minnesota GreenCorps allowed us to coordinate work with multiple departments centered on mutually beneficial goals."
- "GreenCorps members brought insight, energy, and creative input—they are enthusiastic and hardworking… it’s an infusion of people exposed to new ideas and studies who want to test things out."
- "We would not have been able to start this program without the Minnesota GreenCorps member’s service. It would still be an idea we want to implement 'someday.'"
