Participants will learn how to integrate science with practical winter maintenance while minimizing impacts on the environment. Training will also briefly touch on other sources of chloride such as dust suppressants for gravel roads and water softening.
- audience: public and private winter maintenance staff and winter maintenance contractors that maintain rural roads that generally do not have a bare pavement policy, and staff from communities getting a chloride limit in their wastewater permit
- upon completion of training and passing the test issued at the end of training, you will earn a Smart Salting certification that expires five years from the date of training
