Program information
Minnesota GreenCorps members serve full-time at environmental nonprofits, government agencies, Tribal Nations, public schools, and educational institutions from October 2025 through September 2026. Members build organizational and community capacity and build community resiliency by supporting environmental projects aligned with one of four topic areas: community readiness and outreach, energy conservation and green transportation, stormwater and forestry, or waste reduction and recycling.
Member overview
Members engage in quarterly training, pair with a professional mentor, and receive a training budget to attend workshops, conferences, and networking events and earn certifications. This training helps members develop green job skills, gain professional experience, and prepares them to complete environmentally focused initiatives at their host site such as delivering environmental education, implementing sustainability projects, improving habitat, launching recycling programs, collaborating with community members, mobilizing volunteers, and collecting, benchmarking, and analyzing data.
Members earn a living allowance disbursed every two weeks in payments of $1,150 (pre-tax), free mental health services with counseling, student loan forbearance on eligible loans, and an education award of $7,395 for education expenses or qualified student loans.
The number of new members for the 2025-2026 program year and length of their service will depend on continuing federal funding. While federal funding has been allocated for the program year 2025-2026, federal funding has been fluid since January 2025 and additional actions at the federal level could impact this program. There is a chance that funding will be removed during the program year, and that could impact the number of members and length of service.
