Tri-City Wastewater Treatment Systems Board variance request: Chloride in wastewater

Tri-City Wastewater Treatment Systems Board is renewing the permit for its wastewater treatment facility, which discharges to an County Ditch 87 in the Le Sueur River Watershed. The facility is designed to treat an average wet weather flow of 1.088 million gallons per day. As part of the permit issuance, the Permittee has applied for a variance from the Class 2B total chloride water quality standard. A variance may be granted when meeting the standard is not feasible, and there is currently no feasible way to remove chloride from wastewater. The facility has satisfied the necessary conditions, and the MPCA will recommend that the EPA grant the variance after the public has provided input.

The online-only event will start at 6 p.m. and run until the presentation is completed and questions are addressed, not to exceed one hour.
