Field work notifications

The MPCA requires consultants and contractors to notify the agency prior to conducting field work at Petroleum Remediation Program (PRP) Leak Sites and Closed Landfill Program (CLP) sites.

Submit field work notifications using MPCA’s online Field Work Notification service. If you need assistance, please contact the MPCA e-Services administrator at 651-757-2728, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. CST, Monday through Friday, or send an email to and describe your issue.

Field work notifications at PRP sites

Field work notifications are required at all PRP sites, regardless if the investigation is opened or closed. Field work notifications provide information to the MPCA that work is occurring at a PRP site.  In addition, PRP staff conduct random audits of field work being completed at PRP sites based on submitted notifications. PRP staff will also compare reports received and the field work notifications to ensure all consultants and contractors are submitting the required notifications.

Field work notifications must be submitted at least 48 hours prior to the start of the site work. If a change in the work schedule occurs after the notification has been submitted, please submit a field work modification with the revised schedule. If the work will be cancelled, you must submit a field work notification cancellation.

If any changes in the field work schedule occurs within 24 hours of the field work start time you must submit the appropriate notification (modification or cancellation). You must also call the assigned site project manager to notify them of the schedule changes.
