About me. I grew up in Massachusetts and moved to Minnesota four years ago to attend Macalester College. There, I studied biology and geography with a focus on public health. My free time is spent playing rugby, biking along the Mississippi River, dreaming of future travels, and exploring all of the beautiful wilderness throughout Minnesota.
About my service. I am serving in the Local Foods track at Augsburg University (Minneapolis). My service is primarily focused on community outreach and education about food justice and sustainability issues, both on campus and in the surrounding community. Throughout my year, I will be working with groups of student interns to gather information and then create educational programming.
Why I serve. My love of the outdoors in combination with my interest in public health is what inspires me to work on environmental issues. I feel lucky that Minnesota GreenCorps has made it possible for me to bring about positive change in my adopted Twin Cities community while also getting the chance to network with environmental professionals and gain valuable work experience.
My favorite place to visit in Minnesota. I spent my very first weekend in Minnesota up in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area (BWCA) and it has been one of my favorite places ever since! The beautiful, quiet atmosphere is the best place to spend a weekend away from the city with friends.
