The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) has extended the public comment period on its greenhouse gas estimate and draft permit for a dairy expansion in Winona County. The MPCA will now receive comments through March 6 at 4:30 p.m. on the Environmental Assessment Worksheet supplement and draft permit for Daley Farms of Lewiston. The agency extended the public comment period by 15 days due to requests from interested parties.
The agency will hold an informational meeting on the proposal starting with an open house at 6:30 p.m. today, Feb. 4, at the Lewiston Community Center, 75 Rice St. Presentations on the greenhouse gas supplement and feedlot permitting will begin at 7 p.m., followed by time for questions from the public. If interested parties cannot make the meeting, they are welcome to call MPCA staff listed below for more information, as well as review the worksheet supplement and permit materials online.
Daley Farms has proposed increasing its dairy herd to 4,628 cows and calves, up from the current 1,728.
The Daley Farms draft permit and environmental assessment worksheet supplement on GHG emissions are available for review on the MPCA website. The public is encouraged to comment during the public notice that ends at 4:30 p.m. March 6. For copies of the documents, or to provide comments in writing:
