What is Minnesota GreenCorps?
Minnesota GreenCorps is an environmentally focused AmeriCorps program coordinated by the MPCA that places AmeriCorps members with organizations around the state. Members serve for a year, addressing critical environmental issues and build community resilience, while gaining experience and learning valuable job skills.
Minnesota GreenCorps members will serve on a project in one of the four focus areas:
- Air pollutant reduction
- Community readiness & outreach
- Green infrastructure improvements
- Waste reduction, recycling, and organics management
Member activities may include: delivering environmental education, implementing sustainability-related projects, collecting, benchmarking and analyzing data, conducting field work, collaborating with local officials and community members, mobilizing volunteers, and much more.
Why should I serve?
“Minnesota GreenCorps is a phenomenal opportunity to gain real-world experience in the environmental field, build connections with key people to expand your network, hone valuable skills, and be in a rewarding position." – Sarah Alexander, MN GreenCorps Alumnus
"GreenCorps is a testament to the idea that by being involved in our community, and inspiring others to value ideas like recycling and green living, can ultimately create collective and effective change. My service is giving me the opportunity to focus my interests on social sustainability and work directly in community outreach and education to share my passion for environmental preservation.” – Aubrey Fonfara, MN GreenCorps Alumnus
How do I apply?
Member applications are due June 28 (5:00 p.m.)
