The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency is accepting applications from organizations interested in becoming host sites for the 2018-2019 year of the Minnesota GreenCorps program. Applications are due by 5:00pm Central Time on Friday, March 23 2018.
What is Minnesota GreenCorps?
Minnesota GreenCorps is an environmentally focused AmeriCorps program coordinated by the MPCA, which places AmeriCorps members with organizations around the state to spend a year of service addressing critical environmental issues, while gaining experience and learning valuable job skills. MPCA is planning to place up to 42 full-time members with host sites throughout Minnesota for the 2018-2019 program year. Members serve approximately 40 hours a week for 11 months beginning in late September 2018 through August 2019.
Eligible organizations include public entities (local, regional, state, tribal), school districts, not-for-profit institutions of higher education, and 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organizations. Organizations may apply for Minnesota GreenCorps members who will serve on projects in one of the following four focus areas:
- Air pollutant reduction
- Community readiness and outreach
- Green infrastructure improvements
- Waste reduction, recycling, and organics management
We would not have been able to start this program without the Minnesota GreenCorps member’s service. It would still be an idea we want to implement "someday." – Former host site supervisor
