Many of us here at the MPCA take our mission to protect the environment to heart. We plant bee-friendly gardens to protect pollinators. Some of us even bike to work on snowy winter days. And we recycle and reuse anything we can.
Leslie Fredrickson, one of our staff attorneys in the St. Paul office, took her passion for reuse and reducing waste to the State Fair this year.
Fredrickson recently won the Christmas Tree competition at this year's Minnesota Get-Together. She entered with a friend, Nancy Taff (whose name is on the tree), and together they took home first prize in the Decorated Tree-Contemporary category.
To make their handcrafted ornaments, Leslie says, "We collected Minnesota craft beer and cider cans from friends and family, and aside from some hot glue, staples, and ornament hangers, we only used discarded recyclable material."
We are so impressed with this example of reducing waste and creative upcycling, we had to share! Congratulations, Leslie!
