Interagency Pollution Prevention Advisory Team
IPPAT is a group of representatives from state agencies that cooperate
in the execution of the Governor's Executive
Order "providing for the implementation of pollution prevention and resource conservation by state government." The group meets four times each year to share information
and offer case studies on pollution prevention, including waste
reduction and resource conservation. IPPAT is coordinated by the
Minnesota Pollution Control Agency.
In October 2009, a new Executive Order is expected to be issued affecting the team membership, activities and reporting of the IPPAT.

The team includes, but is not limited to, representatives from state
agencies, colleges and universities.

Initiatives for pollution prevention and conservation are scattered throughout Minnesota state law. IPPAT members can use this document to locate resources and statutory refererences.
Pollution Prevention Summary Report
State agencies are required to prepare an annual summary of their progress
in preventing pollution. This report fulfills the requirements of Governor's
Executive Order 99-4 providing for the implementation of pollution prevention
by state government. These reports are consolidated into a single Pollution
Prevention Summary Report.
Governor's
Award–Government/MnGREAT
IPPAT sponsors the Governor's Award–Government/MnGREAT, recognizing environmental achievements by government
employees. The program focuses on activities that prevent waste
and pollution, reduce waste at its source, and conserve resources.
The first
awards were presented in 1995, and are now a part of the annual
Governor's Awards for Excellence
in Waste and Pollution Prevention.
Executive Order 04-08: Providing for state departments
to take actions to reduce air pollution in daily operations
IPPAT coordinates implementation of Executive Order 04-08 on reducing air pollution in state departments. To begin this effort, each department was required to pick at least two actions from a list of eight to help prevent air pollution. (See the implementation guide.)

This calculator can be used by state agencies to document progress
toward the commitments they made in response to Executive Order
04-08. Initially, each department chose at least two activities to undertake toward
reducing their contribution to air pollution. These activities are
listed along the bottom of the spreadsheet. Clicking on the title
opens the worksheet for that activity.
