How good is the air quality in Minnesota? The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) has just released two reports that help answer complex questions about the state's air quality.
Under agreements with the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA), the Metropolitan Airports Commission (MAC), Minneapolis Fuel Committee (MFC) and Aircraft Service International Inc. (ASII) will be required to pay civil penalties and complete environmental projects at a total cost of $540,000. An Environmental Assessment Worksheet (EAW) for a proposal to construct an interceptor and expand sanitary sewer service to southeast Monticello for existing and future development is available for public review and comment March 14 through April 13, 2005. Monticello is a growing city located in northeastern Wright County, approximately 50 miles from the Twin Cities.
The owners of Heartland Energy and Recycling, a proposed tire-derived fuel plant, have officially withdrawn their air permit application for the Preston, Minn. site.
Since Minnesota has more surface waters than any other of the 48 contiguous states, the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) needs to be innovative and efficient in fulfilling its charge to monitor, protect and restore the quality, quantity and diversity of the state's waters. One way the agency does this is by using data collected by those unpaid and unsung heroes, citizen monitors.
An Environmental Assessment Worksheet (EAW) for a Metropolitan Council proposal to extend a sanitary sewer line to provide a connection to the city of Corcoran is available for public review and comment Feb. 28 through March 30, 2005. Corcoran, located in northwestern Hennepin County, is currently an unsewered community.

The public is invited to comment on an Environmental Assessment Worksheet (EAW) and solid waste permit prepared by the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) for the proposed construction and operation of a solid waste transfer facility in Blaine. The facility would process mixed municipal solid waste, industrial solid waste, construction and demolition debris, and yard waste.
