Minnesota's Impaired Waters and TMDLs

TMDL Project: Sauk River Horseshoe Chain of Lakes - Excessive Nutrients

Background

This project addresses the excessive nutrient impairment of the Sauk River Chain of Lakes, a reservoir system of thirteen lakes along the Sauk River in Stearns County.  The Sauk River Watershed District (SRWD) will assist the MPCA with the TMDL study. 

Map and location

Sauk River Horseshoe Chain of Lakes is located in the Sauk River watershed, which lies in the south central portion of the Upper Mississippi River Basin.

Site-specific standards

The MPCA is proposing site-specific standards for the Sauk River Chain of Lakes in Stearns County. Information pertaining to the site-specific standards is available in the following document:
