Minnesota's Impaired Waters and TMDLs

Project: Minnehaha Creek Watershed Lakes - Excess Nutrients (Metro)

Background

This project addresses four lakes impaired due to excess nutrients within the Minnehaha Creek watershed: Lake Nokomis, Parley Lake, Lake Virginia, and Wassermann Lake. Nokomis is located in Hennepin County and the others are in Carver County. The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency is contracting with Emmons & Olivier Resources, Inc., an environmental consulting firm, to develop this TMDL study. The Minnehaha Creek Watershed District has partnered with the MPCA to provide technical support and stakeholder involvement. The draft TMDL is targeted to be completed in 2010.

Map and location

The four lakes in this project lie in the Mississippi River - Twin Cities watershed.
