Minnesota's Impaired Waters and TMDLs
TMDL Project: Jessie Lake Watershed - Excess Nutrients
Background
Jessie Lake, one of Itasca County’s largest lakes (1,760 acres), is a sub-watershed of the Rainy River Basin. In 2004, Jessie Lake was listed on the Federal Clean Water Act’s 303(d) list of impaired waters for aquatic recreation due to excess nutrients. The local partner in this TMDL project is the Itasca County Soil and Water Conservation District, assisted by the Jessie Lake Watershed Technical Advisory Committee, and Wenck Associates, Inc. The TMDL is currently in progress.
