Minnesota's Impaired Waters and TMDLs
TMDL Project: Nine Mile Creek - Turbidity, Impaired Biota, and Chloride
Background
This project addresses three impairments on one segment of Nine Mile Creek. The chloride TMDL study will begin in 2007. The turbidity and biota impairments are being evaluated to determine how and when those will be addressed. MPCA will contract with the environmental engineering firm, Barr Engineering Company, to develop this TMDL study. The Nine Mile Creek Watershed District has also partnered with the MPCA and on this project and provides stakeholder involvement support. The draft TMDL for chloride is targeted to be completed in 2010.
Map and location
The Nine Mile Creek watershed is located in the Lower Minnesota River watershed in the Minnesota River basin, within the Twin Cities metro area.
