Minnesota River Basin TMDL Projects

The Minnesota River Basin covers approximately 16,770 square miles, or roughly 10 million acres. Thirteen major watersheds in Minnesota drain into the basin, which touches 37 counties.

The Minnesota River flows southeast from its source at Big Stone Lake on the South Dakota border to Mankato then northeast to join the Mississippi River at Fort Snelling — a total of about 335 miles.

The TMDL projects located in the Minnesota River Basin are listed in the left column of this page.

For information about TMDLs, go to the main TMDL Web page.
