2010 Building Materials Reuse/Recycling Survey
In an effort to promote the reuse, recycling, and recovery of construction and demolition (C&D) waste in Minnesota, the MPCA is conducting a statewide survey this fall designed to collect information on the reuse and recycling services available from public, not-for-profit, and private agencies.
At this time, approximately 1,600 parties have been identified within and outside of Minnesota to respond to the survey with the potential of providing one or more of these important services. The data collected will assist the agency in developing a web-based directory for residential, commercial, and institutional use in selecting those services that best meet their needs in reducing, recycling, or the recovery of C&D waste while also assisting the state in meeting its greenhouse gas reduction goals.
Aside from vital market data for C&D materials, the survey and its web-based directory is expected to provide important information on non-traditional building demolition practices such as building deconstruction and salvage services, mobile and stationary material processing equipment (e.g. crushing, grinding, etc.) all within searchable 40-mile service radius increments.
For convenience and to increase response rates, the survey has been sent electronically to those contractors and others who have known e-mail addresses. Others received a letter directing them to this page on the MPCA’s website, where they can take the survey.
Those with questions about this survey should contact Hank Fisher, Project Manager, at 218-302-6630, toll-free at 1-800-657-3864 or at henry.fisher@state.mn.us.
