Highlights
- The state's total waste generation was 6.1 million tons (+0.4%), while state population increased 0.5%.
- Per capita generation was essentially unchanged: 2,332 pounds of waste and recycleables for each Minnesota resident.
- The state's SCORE recycling rate is 48.7%.
- Statewide collection of recycleable materials totaled 2,523,635 tons (+43,000 tons).
- After recycling, 3,577,113 tons of waste remained for disposal: Landfills (62%) and waste-to-energy facilities (32%) handled most of it.
- State and county spending on SCORE-related programs rose to $54.5 million (+$300,000). The increase is due entirely to new county funding.
