Air pollutants

Since the passing of the federal Clean Air Act, more than 30 years of effort to reduce air pollution has significantly improved air quality in many parts of the country, including Minnesota.

The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) monitors and regulates air pollution in Minnesota.  MPCA works with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to identify and regulate sources of air pollution to comply with state and federal requirements. MPCA also works with the Minnesota Department of Health to assess health risk from air pollution.
