Data for AERMOD Applications
This Web page contains ready-to-run data suitable for AERMOD (former version 04300 and current version 07026) – see restrictions in the README files. All items herein are works-in-progress and are subject to change and are for skilled AERMOD users only.
Users of this data should carefully read the AMODDATA.DOC file and all applicable README files below before downloading and using any data.
History
Below is the history of AERMOD related activities.
- September 2004. MPCA posted various “trial” documents and “trial” data sets for AERMAP (version 02222) and AERMET (version 02222) for testing purposes only.
- October 2005. MPCA posted various “draft” documents and “draft” data sets for AERMAP (version 04300) and AERMET (version 04300) for testing purposes and conditional regulatory use.
- November 2005. EPA released AERMOD/AERMAP/AERMET (version 04300).
- December 2006. EPA released AERMOD/AERMAP/AERMET (version 06341).
- January 2007. EPA released AERMOD (version 07026) – it continues to use AERMAP/AERMET (version 06341).
- February 2007. MPCA re-processed the aforementioned “draft” meteorological data using AERMET (version 06341) stage 1, stage 2, and stage 3.
For now (March 2007), only AERMET (version 06341) Stage 3 files are being re-posted for interim regulatory use until the release of AERSURFACE and related EPA guidance.
Eventually, MPCA intends to provide additional AERMOD-related products:
- More Guidance
- PSD Increment Modeling
- NAAQS & MAAQS Modeling
- Cumulative Effects Modeling (EAWs – Air Quality)
- More Data and Tools
- Enhanced First-Approximation Run (FAR) data
- Quick Look Reports using enhanced FAR data
- Standardized Air Modeling (SAM) spreadsheet
Working Documents
- AMODDATA1.doc (discusses “draft” AERMOD data, restrictions, etc.);
- ABZoINFO1.XLS (draft “ABZo” tables, wind roses, DRG/DOQ/LULC maps, etc.);
- SITECHAR1.XLS (draft AERMET "SITE_CHAR" for Zo)
AERMAP Data
- 1-Degree Digital Elevation Model (DEM) Data
- READ_ME_.TXT
- DEM1DATA.ZIP (32MB zipped; 473MB unzipped)
- Some sources of 7.5 minute DEM data are summarized on page 1-3 of the AERMAP user’s guide.

- preliminary National Land Cover Data (NLCD)
- preliminary monthly values of Albedo (A), Bowen ratio (B), and roughness height (Zo)
