Duluth, Minn. — The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) invites the public and interested parties to an information meeting about the U.S. Steel Superfund site in Duluth. MPCA staff will discuss the site’s recent and upcoming remediation activities, as well as re-use and redevelopment options.
The meeting will be held Wednesday, April 20, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Goodfellowship Community Center at 1302 88th Ave. W. in Duluth’s Morgan Park neighborhood. MPCA staff will be available for 30 minutes before and after the meeting for one-on-one conversations and to answer questions.

6:05 p.m. — Site history, remediation work since 2009
6:35 p.m. — Current and upcoming remediation work
6:50 p.m. — Site re-use/redevelopment update

Documents on the U.S. Steel Superfund site are on file at the Duluth Public Library, West Duluth Branch, 5830 Grand Ave. These include Records of Decision (final cleanup remedies), site assessments, historical data and copies of communications with the affected community.
Documents related to the site’s Five-Year Reviews from 2003 and 2008, which are required by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, are also on file. Site documents and related information are also available at www.pca.state.mn.us/mvri83b.
