St. Paul, Minn. — The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) is seeking feedback on an Environmental Assessment Worksheet (EAW) for proposed improvements to wastewater infrastructure in St. Louis Park and Golden Valley. A public comment period runs through July 13.
The proposed project involves construction of a new pump station and installation of approximately 1.6 miles of 18-inch sewer pipe. When completed, the project would provide increased sewage capacity for the cities of St. Louis Park and Golden Valley. The new pipeline could accommodate a flow of up to five million gallons per day. The EAW is posted online at www.pca.state.mn.us/news/eaw/index.html and may also be viewed at the MPCA’s St. Paul office.
An EAW is a preliminary environmental review that examines how a proposed project might affect the environment. The MPCA will use comments on this EAW to evaluate the potential for significant environmental effects from the project and to determine whether a more comprehensive environmental review is needed.
Comments on the EAW should be submitted in writing by 4:30 p.m. July 13, 2011 to Debra Moynihan, MPCA, 520 Lafayette Road N., St. Paul, MN 55155-4194, by e-mail to debra.moynihan@state.mn.us, or by fax to 651-297-2343. Late comments will not be considered. Questions may also be directed to Ms. Moynihan.
