St. Paul, Minn. — Due to the state government shutdown, the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency has extended the public comment periods for five water quality improvement projects. The reports, known as Total Maximum Daily Load (TMDL) reports, assess conditions in an impaired water body and specify changes needed to return conditions to an acceptable level.
Projects affected include the Buffalo Creek TMDL, Cedar and McMahon Lakes TMDL, Elk River Watershed TMDL, Shingle and Bass Creeks TMDL, and the Lake Winona Site Specific Standard (part of a larger TMDL project that is still underway).
Comments will now be accepted until 4:30 p.m. on Aug. 15, 2011. To view the reports or obtain more information about submitting comments, visit /veiz965
