Curious about electric vehicles you’ve seen in commercials? You can see them up close at the Eco Experience at the Minnesota State Fair. Experts will be on hand to answer your questions. You will learn not only how to “Kick Gas” but also how electric vehicles improve air quality because they emit zero emissions.
Here is some of what you’ll see:
The Nissan Leaf- All Electric. No Gas. All Car. The Leaf is remarkable because it uses no gas yet it drives like a traditional car. For example it can go up to 90 mph and can seat five passengers. The Leaf recharges at any standard outlet. It takes approximately 21 hours for a full charge from a dead battery or approximately eight hours at higher voltage charging stations.
ReGo Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) -ConversionReGo Electric Conversions convert conventional hybrid cars into plug-in hybrid electric vehicles. These conversions significantly extend the range in which the vehicle operates in electric only mode. The battery can be recharged in about six hours at any standard outlet. ReGo is a local company and you can find out more about how they could convert your hybrid to run mostly in all electric mode.
Zero Motorcycle- the Zero Motorcycle is fully electric, light-weight motorcycles capable of freeway speeds and has a charge range of approximately 40 miles. The battery is recharged at any standard outlet in approximately four hours and with the Quick Charge pack in approximately 2 hours. The Zero Motorcycle is fast, quiet and has zero emissions.
After viewing the electric vehicles you can learn how to charge them with the sun at the solar carport in the Green Crossing exhibit, showcasing how ‘power from the sun’ can be used to charge full-use electric cars or motorcycles.
