Curious about what a green job is? Want to explore a green career? The Eco Experience brings together many innovative green businesses and entrepreneurs. On September 1, look for people wearing the “Ask me about my Green Job” button to learn more about the many jobs in our building.
Are you thinking of a new career path? Search for a green career at the “Jobs of the Future” booth. Representatives will be at the booth to help you navigate and explore green careers through www.minnesotaworks.net, a no-fee job bank, www.iseek.org and www.mngreencareers.org. They will also help you find low or no-cost training options.
You can learn about interesting green jobs like Chopper College. Chopper College, a motorcycle school in Minneapolis, offers courses in custom bike building, fabrication, and engines. Be sure to stop by the “Jobs of the Future” booth between August 30 and September 1 to see Chopper College’s eco-friendly, high-performance motorcycle--powered by biofuels and enhanced with bio-composite parts.
When it comes to growing green jobs, the recycling industry has experienced robust job growth. There are more than 36,000 jobs associated with the recycling industry. That’s an increase of jobs by 69 percent since 2004. Recycling is important to Minnesota’s economy and job market. In the Reduce, Reuse, Recycle area of the Eco Experience you can check out Minnesota products that came from recycled material. Products such as decking, envelopes, deck/patio pavers, steel rebar, egg cartons, cereal boxes, lawn furniture, boat parts, harbor piers, recycled copy paper and asphalt paving made from old roof shingles.
Whether you want to work outside or inside, work with machines or people, the “Jobs of the Future” booth will help you plan your next green career move.
