St. Paul, Minn. -- The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) has prepared an Environmental Assessment Worksheet for the proposed to make improvements to portion of the sewer system in Edina and Richfield. Known as the Edina-Richfield Interceptor Improvements Project, the public is invited to comment on this EAW until March 12, 2008.
Metropolitan Council Environmental Services is proposing to add sewer line capacity and further address reliability sewer lines serving Edina and Richfield. The proposed improvement project will generally follow the 75th Street corridor west of I-35W and the 76th Street corridor from I-35W to Cedar Avenue in Richfield. The ultimate capacity of this sewer line will be nine million gallons per day.
The EAW, a preliminary environmental review looking at how a proposed project could potentially affect the environment, is open to a 30-day public review and comment period. Comments on the Edina-Richfield Interceptor Improvements Project EAW should be submitted in writing by 4:30 p.m. on March 12, 2008, to Jessica Ebertz, MPCA Environmental Review Section, 520 Lafayette Road N., St. Paul, MN 55155-4194, or by 651-296-8011.
The MPCA will use these comments to evaluate the potential for significant environmental effects from the project and decide if an Environmental Impact Statement, a more comprehensive environmental review, is needed.
