Thief River Falls, Minn. -- The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) has scheduled a public information meeting on proposed permit changes for Excel Dairy located in Excel Township in Marshall County. The meeting will be held Thursday, Jan. 18, at 7 p.m. in the basement meeting room of the Pennington County Courthouse,101 North Main in Thief River Falls.
Excel Dairy is proposing to add additional manure storage capacity as well as a new barn to allow more space for each cow. The number of animals allowed at the site will not change. In addition, the updated permit requires new air monitoring equipment, as well as the inspection and possible repair of the existing manure storage basin.
The proposed new permit is available for public review and comment. The permit is available for review at the Marshall County Extension office, 208 E Colvin Ave., Warren, or the MPCA office at 714 Lake Ave., Detroit Lakes. Send written comments to:
