St. Paul, Minn. - The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) has prepared an Environmental Assessment Worksheet on the proposed Flagstaff Avenue Sewer Project in Farmington. Public comment on the EAW will be accepted between April 23 and May 22, 2007.
The proposed project will include construction of approximately 12,500 feet of sewer lines along Flagstaff Avenue in Farmington. The sanitary sewer extension will ultimately accommodate average wastewater flows of 2.6 million gallons per day, providing sewer service to the new Farmington High School and future developments in Farmington, as well as portions of Lakeville. The Metropolitan Council's Empire Wastewater Treatment Plant in Dakota County will treat the wastewater.
The EAW is a preliminary review of how a proposed project could potentially affect the environment and is open to a 30-day public review and comment period. Comments on the Flagstaff Avenue Sewer Project EAW should be submitted in writing by 4:30 p.m. on May 22, 2007, to Jessica Ebertz, MPCA Environmental Review Unit, 520 Lafayette Road N., St. Paul, MN 55155-4194 or by fax to 651-297-2343.
The MPCA will use comments to evaluate the potential for significant environmental effects from the project and decide if an Environmental Impact Statement, a more comprehensive environmental review, is needed.
