MPCA Hosts Public Meeting for Baytown Superfund Site

Contact: Jennifer Groebner, 651-296-7706 Toll-free: 1-800-657-3864 St. Paul, Minn. - The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) will hold a public meeting on Mon., Mar. 12, to explain a proposed plan for the Baytown Township Ground Water Contamination Superfund Site in Washington County, Minn. An open house will be held from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m., followed by a presentation on the plan at 7:00 p.m. The meeting will be held at Oak-Land Junior High, located at 820 Manning Ave. North, Lake Elmo. The proposed plan includes three components: 1) continued monitoring and installation of carbon filters on private wells, 2) construction of an air stripper for Bayport municipal well #2, and 3) construction of a hydraulic barrier that will be used to contain and treat ground water contaminated with trichloroethylene. The proposed plan will be available at the public meeting and can be found at www.pca.state.mn.us/cleanup/sites/baytown.html. Public comments will be accepted from Mar. 1 through Mar. 30, 2007.
