Contact: Mark Sulzbach 651-296-7768 Toll-free: 1-800-657-3864 Saint Paul, Minn. - The Flint Hills Resources Supplemental Environmental Projects Committee is seeking proposals for environmental projects that will benefit the environment in Dakota County. A total of $255,000 will be available for projects selected by the 12-member SEP Committee. Flint Hills has an oil refinery located in Rosemount. In 1999, it agreed to fund environmentally-beneficial projects as part of a settlement between the company and the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency. The SEP Committee, consisting of Flint Hills employees, MPCA staff, county and city officials and five citizens-at-large, has developed a framework for identifying and selecting appropriate projects. Interested parties proposing projects should complete a pre-proposal application, which can be obtained by calling Scott Parr with the MPCA at 651-296-7636 or by e-mailing him at scott.parr@pca.state.mn.us. Information must be limited to one page (two-sided) and all questions on the form must be answered. After review by the SEP Committee, authors of selected proposals will be asked to provide detailed information about the projects. Final funding decisions will be made in September 2007. Applications must be submitted by July 31, 2007, 4:00 p.m. to SEP Committee, c/o Scott Parr, Minnesota Pollution Control Agency, 520 Lafayette Road North, St. Paul, MN 55155-4194.
