Televisions and computer monitors are hazardous because they contain up to eight pounds of lead and can cause an environmental problem if discarded with regular garbage. Minnesota residents can take advantage of the expanding number of recycling options for old electronic equipment including community collection events, retailers, and manufacturers. Recyclers most often charge a fee to handle monitors and televisions.
