The EAW is open for public review and comment through Feb. 1, 2006. Center Creek Pork Inc. proposes to build a new 4,800-head farrow-to-wean swine facility in Center Creek Township. The proposed facility would include one 132 ft. x 376 ft. farrowing barn and three 80 ft. x 380 ft. breeding and gestation buildings. The proposal also includes eight-foot deep concrete manure collection pits under each building with 11 months of storage capacity. Manure would be removed twice per year and injected at agronomic rates to designated cropland. The EAW provides basic information about how a proposed project could potentially affect the environment. Interested parties may comment on the EAW during the 30-day public notice period from Jan. 2 to Feb. 1, 2006. Written comments submitted by 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 1, become part of the public record. The EAW and written public comments help to evaluate the proposed project's potential for significant environmental effects, and to determine if the project warrants an Environmental Impact Statement, a more comprehensive environmental review.
