Media Contact: Jennifer Groebner, (651) 296-7706 Technical Contact: Eric Kilberg, (651) 296-8643 St. Paul, Minn. - The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) is seeking comments on an Environmental Assessment Worksheet (EAW) that has been prepared for a proposal to construct a sewer lift station and connection along Cottage Grove Drive and Lake Elmo Avenue in Washington County. Known as the Woodbury Northeast Regional Lift Station L-77 and Lake Elmo East Connection Project, the proposed construction includes a sanitary sewer lift station in Woodbury and 3,000-4,000 feet of sewer pipe to Lake Elmo. On average, the proposed lift station will carry 5.1 million gallons per day and will have the capacity to handle up to 11.7 mgd if needed. Wastewater will ultimately be treated at the Eagle Point Wastewater Treatment Plant in Cottage Grove. The project will provide sanitary sewer service to the northeastern portion of Woodbury and future service to the southern portion of Lake Elmo, and communities along the I-94 corridor to the St. Croix River. The EAW, a preliminary environmental review looking at how a proposed project could potentially affect the environment, is open to a 30-day public review and comment period. Comments on the Woodbury Northeast Regional Lift Station L-77 and Lake Elmo East Connection EAW should be submitted in writing by 4:30 p.m. on Jan. 18, 2006, to Eric J. The MPCA will use these comments to evaluate the potential for significant environmental effects from the project and decide if an Environmental Impact Statement (a more comprehensive environmental review) is needed.
