Information Officer: Nancy Miller 507-280-3590 Technical Contacts: Denise Leezer 651-297-8236 Nancy Heskett 507-280-3589 Rochester, Minn. -- The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency is seeking comments on an Environmental Assessment Worksheet and a draft National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System/State Disposal System permit prepared for proposed improvements to the Plainview-Elgin Sanitary District wastewater treatment facility in Plainview, Minn. Interested parties are invited to submit comments on the EAW and draft NPDES/SDS permit from Nov. 7 to Dec. 7, 2005. The Plainview-Elgin Sanitary District proposes to increase its wastewater treatment facility's capacity from 1.5 to approximately 2.7 million gallons per day. The purpose of the project is to meet projected wastewater treatment needs associated with growth and development in the area. The EAW provides basic information about how a proposed project could potentially affect the environment. It helps determine if an Environmental Impact Statement, a more comprehensive environmental review, is needed. Interested parties may comment on the EAW and draft NPDES/SDS permit during the 30-day public notice period from Nov. 7 to Dec. 7, 2005. Written comments must be received by 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 7. Copies of the Plainview-Elgin Wastewater Treatment Facility Improvements EAW are available at the following locations:
