Duluth, Minn. -- The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) invites the public to attend an informational meeting and to offer comments on the draft air quality permit amendment for the Mesabi Nugget Delaware LLC facility in Hoyt Lakes.
The meeting will be from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Nov. 19 at the Aurora, Minn., Community Center, 15 W. First Ave. N. Staff will be available for general information for 30 minutes before and after the meeting. During the meeting, MPCA staff will present a brief overview of the agency's air permit process and a description of the proposed permit amendment. A question-and-answer session will follow the presentation.
The proposed air permit amendment includes a change to an air pollutant limit for the greenball dryer and an increase in the number of trucks hauling concentrate to the processing site. The amendment will also make three minor changes to the existing permit, including the addition of an emergency generator, a material crusher, and new equipment for receiving raw materials.
