Local Students Explore Nature Careers with Noted Photographer/Author Dudley Edmondson

Contacts: Walker Smith, 651-297-7018 WHO: Dudley Edmondson, noted wildlife photographer and author of "Black & Brown Faces in America's Wild Places." WHAT: Following a presentation by Edmondson at the Windom school in Minneapolis, approximately 100 sixth, seventh and eight graders will photograph and explore nature and interact with environmental professionals. WHEN: Friday, May 11, 2007, 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. WHERE: Wood Lake Nature Center, 6710 Lake Shore Dr. S., Richfield. Directions are available at www.woodlakenaturecenter.org. At this event, students will identify plants, animals, take digital photographs and discuss ecology and wildlife issues with volunteers from the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency, Minnesota Department of Natural Resources and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. Students will share their photographs and discuss them with volunteers and Edmondson. Many of Edmondson's images have graced the pages of natural history publications in the United States and Europe.
