St. Paul, Minn. -- The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) Citizens' Board will hold a special meeting at 1 p.m. on May 4, 2006, to respond to a petition from citizens concerned with Andersen Corp.'s pending multi-media XL permit for their Bayport, Minn. facility.
The 500-page Andersen XL permit covers air, water and waste requirements. The permit was on public notice until April 14, and there was a public meeting held Feb. 23. A general petition was signed by more than 100 citizens voicing concerns about air emissions and air monitoring, and how potential air emission violations by Andersen Corp. would be handled by the MPCA.
The Andersen XL permit covers the existing facility operations and allows certain modifications to occur at the site during the permit term. Those modifications allowed under the permit include the replacement and modification of the existing wood milling equipment, the replacement of six older wood-fired boilers, and the installation of three new boilers and a space heating system.
The MPCA Boardroom is located at 520 Lafayette Road in St. Paul.
