St. Paul, Minn. -- The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) concluded 27 enforcement cases totaling $527,491 in penalties during the third quarter of 2006. The cases occurred at facilities in 18 counties throughout Minnesota. The following is a brief summary of the cases completed during the third quarter of 2006:
- $280,700 - Southern Minnesota Beet Sugar Cooperative, Renville, for water and air quality violations.
- $70,675 - BNSF, Dilworth, for wastewater, stormwater and storage tank violations.
- $60,000 - Wal-Mart Stores Inc., Hermantown, for stormwater violations.
- $20,000 - SL Montevideo Technology Inc., Montivideo, for hazardous waste violations.
- $16,000 - OSI Environmental Inc., Milwaukee, Wis. for hazardous waste violations in Minnesota.
- $10,000 - Pioneer Central LLC; Rud Construction, Carver, for stormwater violations.
- $7,302 - Polar Tank, Holdingford, for hazardous waste violations.
- $6,000 - Avon AgLime Inc., Fair Haven Township, for water quality violations.
- $5,815 - City of Perham, Perham, for wastewater violations.
- $5,500 - Automated Building Components, Chanhassen, for hazardous waste violations.
- $5,100 - Murphy Bents Demolition Debris Facility, Worthington, for solid waste violations.
- $4,625 - Cottonwood County Sanitary Landfill, Windom, for solid waste violations.
- $4,200 - Wenke Holdings LLC, Carver, for stormwater violations.
- $3,603 - G E Osmonics Inc., Minnetonka, for hazardous waste violations.
- $3,510 - Cliff's Erie LLC, Schroeder, for water quality violations.
- $3,500 - Brenny-Dahl Concrete Products, Cloquet, for solid waste violations.
- $3,500 - Reimer Development LLC, Soil-Con Inc., Rockford, for stormwater violations.
- $3,400 - Pete's Corner Store, Slayton, for underground tank violations.
- $2,250 - Rajala Construction, Kraus-Anderson Construction, Grand Itasca Clinic & Hospital, Grand Rapids, for stormwater violations.
- $2,000 - City of Willow River, Willow River, for water quality violations.
- $1,687 - Behnke Body Shop/Auto Sales, Minnesota Lake, for air quality violations.
- $1,687 - Avon Body Shop, Avon, for air quality violations.
- $1,687 - Auto Body Center, Rochester, for air quality violations.
- $1,450 - Ed Schmidt, dba A-1 Pumping Service, St. Cloud, for individual septic treatment system violations.
- $1,300 - KTM Paving Inc., Hermantown, for individual septic treatment system violations.
- $1,000 - Great Lakes Excavating Inc., Duluth, for individual septic treatment system violations.
- $1,000 - Sampson Farms, Aitkin, for water quality violations.
