Rochester, Minn. - The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) seeks comments on an Environmental Assessment Worksheet prepared for an ethanol facility proposed by US BioEnergy. The proposed facility would be located near Janesville. Interested parties may submit comments on the EAW until 4:30 p.m. on Nov. 8, 2006.
US BioEnergy proposes construction of a facility that would use dry milling and natural fermentation to manufacture fuel-grade ethanol. The proposed facility, US BioEnergy - Janesville LLC, would process nearly 43 million bushels of corn per year and produce up to 120 million gallons of ethanol per year. The facility would also produce up to 1.3 million tons of byproducts used for animal feed yearly.
The EAW provides basic information about how a proposed project could potentially affect the environment. The EAW helps determine whether an Environmental Impact Statement, a more comprehensive environmental review, is needed.
Interested parties may comment on the EAW during the public notice period beginning Oct. 9. Written comments must be received at the MPCA St. Paul office by 4:30 p.m. on Nov. 8, 2006.
