MPCA seeks comments on draft air emissions permit for Abbott Northwestern Hospital

St. Paul, Minn. — The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) is seeking comments on a draft air emissions permit for Abbott Northwestern Hospital, located at 800 28th St. E. in Minneapolis. The public comment period runs from Dec. 7, 2012 to Jan. 22, 2013.

Abbott Northwestern Hospital is proposing a change to its current air permit to allow a change in back-up fuels, as well as include space heating equipment and an emergency generator for the lab building.

A public informational meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, Jan. 8, at 6:30 p.m. to discuss the draft permit. The meeting will be held at The Center for Changing Lives, 2400 Park Ave. S. in Minneapolis. It will begin with a short presentation, followed by time for questions until 8:00 p.m.

Comments on the draft air emissions permit must be received in writing at the MPCA by 4:30 p.m. on Jan. 22, 2013. Send comments, requests and petitions to: Sarah Sevcik, Industrial Division, MPCA, 520 Lafayette Rd. N., Saint Paul, MN 55155 (fax 651-296-8717, email sarah.sevcik@state.mn.us).

A copy of the public notice, draft permit and technical support document is available on the MPCA’s Cumulative Impacts Air Permitting in South Minneapolis webpage. Or, any interested person can obtain a copy by making the request in writing to the MPCA. Additional materials relating to the issuance of this permit are available for review by appointment at the MPCA, 520 Lafayette Road N. in St. Paul, between 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
