Filing a Complaint about an Observed Pollution Problem

If you have information concerning an observed pollution problem, we strongly encourage you to submit it to the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) using the form below. If you have an environmental question or comment not related to an environmental violation or regulatory enforcement issue, please use our Ask MPCA form.

We appreciate your interest and willingness to disclose information that may assist us in our enforcement efforts. Please feel free to use this form again to submit comments or questions concerning your complaint.

Electronic submittal of complaint information does not guarantee confidentiality. In addition, this form provides no security measures. If you would like to remain anonymous or if you are supplying personal information, read the following paragraph before supplying identifying information. If you would prefer calling the MPCA, please call 651-296-6300 or 800-657-3864 if out of the Twin Cities area.

"It is the policy of the MPCA to ask you to identify yourself to facilitate investigation of the complaint. You are not required to supply identifying information. However, if you do not provide the identifying information, the MPCA may not be able to investigate the complaint if additional information is needed regarding the complaint. If you do provide identifying information, it will be treated as confidential and will not become public unless release of the information is ordered by a court or you consent to the release of the information. The MPCA may share the information with MPCA staff who are assigned to work on the matter, and with state, federal, or local law enforcement agencies with an interest in the matter, or refer the complaint to the appropriate Agency. These agencies must also keep the identify information confidential. Do you understand?"
